Summer Fun
Our Summer at AFPRC EarlyON was filled with sunshine, outdoor adventures, and lots of opportunities to connect with families in our community. From beach days, nature walks, sensory play, and crafts we definitely made the most of the beautiful summer weather. It was wonderful to welcome back some of our school aged friends who joined us during their summer break.
July and August were busy months filled with fun outings and opportunities to explore our community. We enjoyed our annual Teddy Bear Picnic, beach days, and plenty of park plays, giving families lots of opportunities to get outside, explore, and spend time together.
We also had the opportunity to enjoy a guided walk through the Grove with the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Families explored the beautiful White Pine Loop while learning about the many plants, insects, and birds that call the area home. It was a wonderful morning of learning, exploring, and connecting with nature.
We had a wild time with the Zoo Crew at our End of Summer Party on September 1st. Families had the chance to get up close and learn about some amazing animals including a fluffy chinchilla, a boa constrictor, a tortoise, a bearded dragon, a ferret, a skinny pig and an adorable bunny. It was such a fun and memorable way to wrap up the summer and we loved seeing the excitement on everyone’s faces as we met our animal friends.
Our Play and Learn Drop in continued to be a wonderful place for families to connect, play, and spend time together throughout the summer. We enjoyed lots of free play, summer themed crafts, sensory activites and, as always, finished with a fun circle time. It was always lovely to see familiar faces and welcome new families into our community.
BIAK joins us each month to share Indigenous and Algonquin teachings, Algonquin language, crafts, storytelling, and drumming and songs. We look forward to having them with us again in September.
We loved spending the summer playing, learning, exploring, and making memories together. We’re excited to welcome everyone back as we head into fall, and we look forward to seeing you at the centre.
